A limited edition lithograph on heavyweight rag paper titled Winning Together by Alexandra Nechita (born 1985). This cubist work depicts human figures in a collage-like pattern. This piece is from the Winning Together Series dedicated to the athletes of the Special Olympics. The piece is signed in pencil to the lower right corner and dated 1998. It is number 542 in an edition of 2500.
‘Special Olympians — they are a group — but there is no jealousy among the members. They are on one team — they’re happy for their friends who win. They are winning together. When one wins — they all win. In the painting, there are angels with babies of different nations. The angels are taking care of the babies. These babies are like the athletes and the angels are like the adults encouraging the athletes.’ – Alexandra Nechita
