Vintage Iranian Handwoven Soumak Silk Accent Rug

Item Details

A handwoven soumak flat-weave silk area rug attributed to weavers of Iran. The rug features an ivory field with three stepped and hooked medallions to the center and four half-medallions near the sides. Adorning the medallions and fields are ‘S’ motifs, blooming trees, bug motifs, bird motifs, and more. The main border is a soft pink with a red vine curling around along with multi-colored leaves. Flanking the border, there is a pair of dark pink guard borders featuring a crab pattern. The top end has a longer fringe than the bottom end. Unmarked.
