A giclee print on paper after an original oil painting presented in a federal style wood frame titled Max Schmitt in a single scull by listed American artist Thomas Eakins (1844 – 1916), originally dated 1871. This piece depicts multiple athletes practicing rowing in a reflective body of water. Presented without glass, in a federal style wood frame with a gilt interior slip surrounded by a slightly rised rectilinear border. To the center, a flat liner with natural finish enclosed in a slightly raised ogee with a rippled back edge. A ‘Marty Scherer’ informational label is affixed to the verso.
Condition
- glue residues, wear, abrasion and dents to wood frame; dust particles present throughout the piece, would benefit from cleaning; discoloration to print; areas of torn paper, accretion, and foxing to backing.
