Antique Jacobean Style Oak Secretary Bookcase

Item Details

An antique Jacobean style oak secretary bookcase. This ornately-carved piece features flowers, scrolls, acanthus leaves, griffins, cherubs, and more. The secretary has four dovetailed drawers with brass, drop pulls as well as a slant-front opening to a fitted desk interior. It is topped by a blind-door bookcase with a four-shelf interior. The whole piece rises on a molded base ending in bracket feet.

Condition

- to fair; interior felt lining is peeling off and torn on the edges; original key is included but the locking mechanisms are worn and no longer functional; to the center of the interior, there is a drawer missing to the center cubby; broken off and chipped pieces of wood to the center cubby; one scalloped accent missing over one of the interior cubby; water staining to the interior finish; chip to top corner piece.
