Antique Hand-Knotted Northwest Persian Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted antique northwest Persian wool rug. This rectilinear area rug features a Kurdish-style design, which begins with an allover pattern of boteh latticed with perepedil shapes and interspersed with tiny birds, gazelles, and other motifs throughout. The palette is brown, faded red, pink, orange, and tan. The rug has three unresolved primary borders, two of which contain meandering flowers, while the central border features a repeating flower pattern. Edges are overcast. The rug finishes at one end with remnants of kilim skirts and twisted wool warp fringe; the other end finishes with a kilim skirt. It is unmarked.
