An original antique turn-of-the-century oil painting on canvas by an artist named A. Gautier. The painting depicts several boats floating across a rippling body of water beneath an ominous stormy sky. In the background, a small castle stands on a small hill overlooking the scene. The water is painted in thick strokes that stand prominently from the page, which brilliantly contrast the flat, brilliantly blended paints in the clouds above. The painting is signed to the lower left. It is presented in a wooden frame with cast surface embellishments, gold-tone and white finishes, seamless corners, and a hanging wire.
