An early 20th-century original oil painting on canvas signed illegibly in red paint to the lower right by the artist. The image depicts an idyllic woodland muse, standing weightlessly in a large blossom with pale, cream-colored petals. She wears a sheer silken gown adorned with fresh flowers, a crown of flowers on her head, and holds a wreath of flowers in her hand. She smiles welcomingly at the viewer as butterflies flutter in the foreground. The background is filled with trees and light. This work is mounted in its original antique beveled wood with opulent cast molding and a gilt finish. The verso is wired to hang.

Condition

- craquelure throughout painting. Accretion on painting surface. Molding of frame is cracked and chipped throughout, and has been spraypainted gold. A puncture in the canvas to the upper right.
