Signed Original Alpine Landscape Oil on Canvas
Item Details
A vintage original oil painting on canvas signed by the artist to the lower left. A brass name plaque attached to the bottom center of linen liner attests the signature reads ‘M. Mariani’, but the signature itself is debatable. This impasto work depicts an Alpine landscape with a small village of chalets lining the banks of a crisp, rushing mountain stream. To the right, a woman is seen watering her cow at the water’s edge. This work is mounted behind a linen liner in a beveled wood frame with coving and a bright gold leaf finish. A wire is attached to the verso.
Condition
- accretion on painting, liner and frame. Finish of frame is worn along edges and corners.
