A wood engraving on paper by well-listed Spanish surrealist artist Salvador Dalí (1904-1989). The piece, titled Purgatory Canto 15 or The Angel of Mercy – Envy originates from the Divine Comedy Series produced in 1960-64. The image features hues of blue and brown; it depicts a seated nude male winged figure, shown with right fist raised. The work is matted in white with a gold tone bevel and presented under glass in a wooden frame with gold tone foliate embellishments. The frame includes a hanging wire to the verso. A certificate of authenticity from Global Fine Art is adhered to the frame backing; it states that the piece is a ‘First Edition, 1960-64, Published by Editions d’Art Les Hueres Claires, Paris France’, with registration number ‘SD 58940’.
