Ray Gloeckler Signed Limited Edition Woodcut on Paper "Beast"

A limited edition woodcut on paper titled Beast by listed American artist Ray Gloeckler (b. 1928). This work features a stylized abstraction of a predator with a tail, mane, claws, and baring its sharp teeth. The overall work is rendered with pointy, jagged lines in black ink against a plain white background. The print is signed by hand to the lower right, numbered 7 out of an edition of 40 to the lower center, and titled by hand to the lower left. A descriptive label from the Forsythe Gallery is adhered to the verso. The print is displayed under glass with off-white matting and a simple black wood frame.

Gloeckler is known for his woodcuts featuring various subjects such as religious iconography, politics, and social satire. For nearly three decades, he taught in the Department of Art at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. His work has been exhibited by several art institutions including the Cincinnati Art Museum, the Detroit Art Institute, and the Museum of Fine Arts, to name a few.
