A watercolor painting on paper with a carved wood and gilt frame by Mesler Salomon. This piece depicts organic forms rendered with gestural brushstrokes in splodges of green, blue and brown pigments. Signed by the artist in graphite to the lower right corner. Presented behind glass, beneath an off-white and blue double matting; housed in a carved wood frame with a rectilinear sight edge and an ogee raised cove; to the sides, a slightly curved hollow with a straight back edge in a gilt finish with gold leaf applications. There is an art store label affixed to the verso.
Condition
- minor scuffing, scratches, wrinkles, missing gilt areas on frame; minor wrinkles and wharping to watercolor; visible tape and nails to the verso of the frame.
