Robert Rivera Gourd Art Vases Featuring Hummingbirds

A collection of four hand-crafted and hand-painted gourd art vessels by world renowned gourd artist Robert Rivera (American, 20th century), who is of Apache and Spanish descent. The natural gourds are each one-of-a-kind, featuring sophisticated paintings of hummingbirds, in the style of Native American Hopi, and other tribes, with applied black stone or glass eyes. The backgrounds of the gourds include blue, orange and purple. All are signed to the bottoms, ‘Robert Rivera’ along with the year, and/or the date, and some are also marked ‘Santa Fe, New Mexico’. One piece is titled Hummers. The pieces date from the 1980s through 2000. Rivera’s work is highly collected and the artist is represented by galleries across the country.
