José Hernandez Quero Etching with Aquatint on Paper "Untitled"

An etching on paper with aquatint titled Untitled by listed artist José Hernandez Quero (Spanish, 1930-2008). The work depicts a man in a half-length portrait. Set in an interior space, the man holds his face with one hand, looking away from the viewer. Signed in graphite by the artist to the lower right margin. Not editioned. Presented under a single layer of white mat, under acrylic glass, in an Adirondack folk frame with a maple leaf motif. To the verso is a gallery label.

Quero is known for his paintings and intaglio prints. A student of Spanish painter Manuel Maldonado, Quero would later study art at the School of Arts and Trades in Granada, Spain, School of Fine Arts in Seville, and the School of Fine Arts of San Fernando. He would spend his time working as a furniture carver, lithographer, painter, and instructor. He exhibited regularly and won several awards for his prints. Today, his works can be found in prestigious museums throughout Spain.
