Hand Thrown Inge Stoneware Raku Vase

Item Details

A hand thrown raku fired vase. The vessel has alternating panels featuring decorative crazing in white crackle and copper glazes. The technique was adapted in the West by ceramicists who were influenced by Japanese potters. The effect created includes carbon trapping elements as well as iridescence created by copper flashing. It has a copper red liner glaze to the interior and is incised ‘Inge’ on the underside.

Condition

- intentional crazing; raku glazes are not suitable for food contact.
