Japanese Meiji Period Imari Ware Bowl and Dowsie Coture Mug

Item Details

A selection of two and white ceramic pieces. Of particular note is an antique Japanese Meiji period (1868-1912) Imari ware bowl. The piece is decorated in classic Imari shades of cobalt and vermilion with landscapes, geometric motifs, and flower-and-bird themes. The underside is marked “Made in Hichōzan, Yamaguchi” (大日本肥蝶山山口製). Also offered is a handled ceramic cup with a floral motif and blue and gilt accents. The piece is marked to the underside ‘Dowsie Coture’.
