Raku Pottery Vase

Item Details

A raku pottery vase. This handmade cylindrical piece features dark blue and green glaze falling down the sides over floral incised designs. The raku technique was adapted in the West by ceramicists who were influenced by Japanese potters. The effect created includes carbon trapping elements as well as iridescence created by copper flashing. Incised to the base is an illegible signature and ‘Raku – 95’.

Condition

- outside finish has dripped down inside; interior not completely finished; dirt pocket at bottom.
