An oil painting on canvas by an unknown artist. The untitled landscape piece depicts a twilight scene, showing a man and his dogs walking along a country path near a grove of tall trees. A woman can be seen sitting alongside the path, as a man next to her sleeps. In the background, a river surrounded by lush greenery extends to the horizon, as white clouds roll in. The unsigned piece is presented without glass in a wooden frame with gold tone gesso embellishments. The frame includes a hanging wire to the verso.
Condition
- to Poor; heavy craquelure to surface of painting; chips to painted canvas throughout; some small holes to canvas; frame’s gesso embellishments are cracked and chipped throughout, with some pieces missing; frame does not have paper backing; item would benefit from cleaning; some fraying to canvas visible to both front and verso.
