Thai Painting on Silk of Military Battle with Elephants
Item Details
A Thai painting on black and red silk of an antiquated military battle with elephants. A pair of figures hold six-tiered umbrellas over the attacking figures. Six-tiered umbrellas, symbolic of heaven, were oused to cover royalty as opposed to the nine-tiered umbrellas used today. Unsigned by artist. Under glass, the work is presented in a simple gilt and gesso frame.

- some scuffing to the gilt on frame.
