A Michelangelo Buonarroti (1475 – 1564) offset lithograph titled Studi per la Sibilla Libica from Disegni di Michelangelo. The famous Italian sculptor, painter, architect, poet and engineer of the High Renaissance movement completed many sketches and drawings in preparation for his famous paintings. This piece is a study for the Libyan Sibyl, a prophetic priestess, with the original painting on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. This work is presented behind glass in a copper tone frame and reads ‘Department of Drawings Michelangelo The Metropolitan Museum of Art’ at the bottom. Wire on verso.
