A Victorian-era autograph album. This blue clothbound hardcover album, an analogue of the modern guestbook, is filled with autographs, handwritten notes and bits of verse in various hands; some pages also include later annotations such as ‘Married – lives in NY’ or ‘Long ago passed away’. This small landscape-oriented clothbound hardcover has a chromolithograph illustrated title page with the title ‘The Hendschel Album’, marked ‘The Major & Knapp Co. 55 & 58 Park Pl. N.Y.’ at the lower right.

- significant wear; corner, cap and tail damage; scuffing and marks to cover; loose binding; some pages loose.
