Three Alice Gore King Original Mid-Century Works on Paper
Item Details
A trio of original mid-century works on paper by artist Alice Gore King (1914 – 2007), who was known for her activism and entrepreneurship in women’s rights. One of these works, a gouache and watercolor on paper titled Pullman, dated 1952, depicts brilliant cobalt blue bus or train seats next to a bright window. The next work, another watercolor titled Railroad Signal, dated 1951, is a very precise geometric composition consisting of circular shapes, a diamond grid, and other quadrilaterals and irregular polygons. The third work is an untitled graphite drawing, depicting a shiny metal pierced spinning appliance and its shadows, placed against a white backdrop. Each work is unframed and signed in pencil by the artist.
