T.C. Lindsey Oil On Canvas "Waterfall"

An original oil painting depicting a landscape with a low waterfall by very well-listed painter Thomas Corwin Lindsay (1839-1907) of Cincinnati, Ohio. The fall landscape has been expressively executed with the paint being applied in impasto style illustrating a wooded area with a wide, shallow waterfall. The painting is initialed ‘TCL’ in the lower left corner with the artist’s name plaque in brass attached to the center of the lovely antique gold gilt wooden frame.
Lindsay, a well-known painter of landscapes, animal subjects and occasionally portraits was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. He displayed an interest in painting from an early age and took to the act of expression quite naturally. He studied in Dusseldorf, Germany then returned to Cincinnati in 1857 where he taught students in his Fourth Street studio and made an earnest living from the sale of his masterful landscapes.
Condition
Slight rub wear to the edge and corners of the frame indicative and appropriate for age.

The measurements refer to the painting as it is framed. The image is 17.5" high x 29" wide.
