19th Century Louis XV Style Gilt and Gesso Frame
Item Details
A nineteenth-century Louis XV style gilt and gesso frame. This frame features an elaborate undulating design of scrolling foliage and flower motifs punctuating the corners and centers of each side; the interior lining features a running low-relief acanthus pattern, and a simple beaded pattern runs along the outer edge. A label from Marty Scherer Fine Paintings is attached to the verso.
Condition
- repaired molding; some areas of cracks, chips, and small areas of missing gesso; areas of red patina throughout molding; small holes throughout interior edges; stains and discoloration throughout; scratches, chips, holes, and discoloration throughout verso; dust and dirt throughout.
