A hand-colored engraving of Buck’s The South View of Sandown-Castle, In the County of Kent. This print on laid paper depicts the titular castle, accented with the British flag, from a side view, which is surrounded by a rolling hillside and an oceanscape to the background populated with masted boats. A printed inscription denoting title, artist and an accompanying body of text contextualizing the castle is found to the margins of the paper. The print is presented under glass beneath black velvet matting featuring a gold tone inlay border. This is placed in a gold tone wooden frame with a certificate of authenticity and affixed hanging wire found to the verso.

Condition

- image has toned; abrasion to top left corner of image; small white spots through central and top portions of image; black velvet matting could benefit from spot cleaning; frame has scratches throughout; certificate of authenticity label has ink blotches throughout.
