A 1948 edition of the second volume of J. A. Rogers’ Sex and Race: A History of White, Negro, and Indian Miscegenation in the Two Americas. Historian Joel Augustus Rogers (c. 1880–1966), himself of Jamaican mixed-race ancestry, is known for his work challenging prevailing social ideas about race and racism and is often cited as a prominent author of Afrocentric history. This clothbound hardcover was self-published by Rogers in New York in 1948; a note on the copyright page reads ‘This edition is on thinner paper than the first edition in accordance with war regulations but it contains the same number of pages.’
