A signed black Hungarian pottery bowl from Mohacs. The piece features a shallow bowl with etched and pierced designs throughout and a rope edge rim. Mohacs pottery is traditionally unglazed and its charcoal color comes from a unique firing process where oxygen is cut off from the kiln, creating the carbonized effect to the clay. It is signed ‘Mohacs, SB.’ Mohacs, Hungary, is a town famous for its black pottery and unique winter festival, Busojaras.
