A hand-knotted Baluch war rug. This tribal wool rug begins with three diamond-form medallions. The central medallion contains an eight-pointed star at the center, while the medallions above and below feature birds, camels, chevrons, and a constellation of other motifs surrounding notched diamonds at the center. The rug has six borders, two of which feature traditional scrolling hooked patterns. One of two primary borders is filled with helicopters over a gray ground. The palette is crimson, red, gray, and deep blue, with ivory highlights. The rug has overcast edges and finishes with short kilim skirts and ivory wool warp fringe. It is unmarked.
