Item Details
A hand-knotted Bokhara-style area rug. This wool rug is rendered in a palette of madder red, gold, and black. It features a Bokhara-style design with a single vertical row of octagons, which contain stylized memling guls and sawtooth concentric diamonds. The field is framed by compound borders. These include two primary, mirrored borders, which contain images of mosques or churches; when aligned with their mirror image these elements create Bokhara-like octagons. The rug has overcast edges and finishes with short ivory wool warp fringe. It is unmarked.
