Chinese Watercolor and Gouache Paintings of Flowers
Item Details
A set of two Chinese watercolor and gouache floral paintings on wood by an unknown artist. Featured is a still life of red plum blossoms, shown alongside green and brown leaves. The work bears a calligraphy inscription in black ink, as well as a red seal, both located to the upper left. Also featured is a similar painting of white dogwood flowers with green leaves. The painting is marked with a calligraphy inscription and red seal to the lower right. Both pieces are matted in cream and gold-tone and presented under glass in gold tone bamboo-motif frames with sawtooth brackets affixed to the verso of each. Each is marked ‘F195, F8500, Chiu’ in purple marker to the frame verso.
Condition
- frames show minor surface scratches throughout; acid burns and discoloration to mats; handwritten notes, masking tape and frame gallery stickers to verso. (ARTIAS)
