1930s Will Rogers and Wiley Post Lamp

A late 1930s commemorative lamp that honors Will Rogers and Wiley Post. The lamp’s body is made of pot metal with a copper finish. The body is that of a globe with the faces of Will Rogers and Wiley Post; a plane sits above the globe, facing downward. ‘W. P. X-120’ is embossed onto the wings of the plane. Below the globe, an area of the metal is made to look like a banner that says, ‘Will Rogers Wiley Post’. The glass globe that adorns the top is removable and is clear in color. Will and Wiley perished in a plane wreck at Point Barrow, Alaska in 1935.
Condition
- the base of the round globe has chips out of the glass; the bottom edge of the base of the lamp has discoloration in the metal; the lamp was operational at the time of cataloging; missing one screw that holds the glass globe in position.
