Large Semi-Antique Power Loomed Sarouk-Style Wool Area Rug

Item Details

A large, semi-antique power loomed Sarouk-style wool area rug. The rug features an overall pattern of floral sprays and bouquets with large scale foliate elements in bright blue, ochre, white, indigo and taupe, with an interesting linear arrangement of palmettes and racemes running the length of the center. It has a complex, compound floral and foliate herati border in the field colors. The selvedge is machine-overcast, and it is tagged illegibly to the reverse. The rug appears to have been cut down from a larger size.
