Large Power Loomed Semi-Antique Lilihan-Style Wool Area Rug

Item Details

A large, semi-antique power loomed Lilihan-style wool area rug. The rug features a deep red field populated with large floral sprays and bouquets in indigo, ochre, pale blue, and a pale orange to peach tone, with stylized decorative vase forms. The wide primary border repeats the field pattern in a compacted form, with large lotus palmettes and foliate motifs. It has bound selvedge with folded and bound warp ends, and is illegibly tagged to the reverse. Some edges of the rug have been custom cut and bound.

Condition

- the rug shows fading and traffic wear throughout. Areas have been altered and sewn to fit a custom space, but the overall surface field is intact. Some fraying to end noted.
