Three Vintage and Antique Religious Items

Item Details

A collection of three vintage and antique religious items. The first is a Catholic sick call box, formed in the shape of a crucifix. The box is constructed from carved wood with a celluloid veneer and a gold-painted cast metal portrait of Jesus. The box slides open to reveal a pair of small beeswax candles with stands, a glass bottle for holy water, and a few strips of cotton gauze. The lot also includes a small glass bottle with an embossed cross and the word "Holy Water" to its face. It has a corked stopper with a metal crown at its top. The bottle is housed in a small metal stand from Seton Hill College in Greensburg, Pennsylvania with a cast relief portrait of Mary. The lot also includes an antique German prayer and hymn book. The book has a leather cover with embossed gilt embellishments.

Condition

- book’s spine is missing, and there is denting and scratching across covers. Front cover is almost entirely missing. Light patina to holy water’s metal stand.
