Two Antique 19th-Century Lithographs after Francois Grenier

Item Details

A pair of color and stone lithographs published by E. Gambart & Co., London, after the original pieces by French artist François Grenier de Saint-Martin (1793 – 1867), circa 1830. These prints are likely plates from a folio collection of lithographs, as they are numbered to the bottom center margins. One of the prints is titled Le Nouveau Né, depicting a mother showing her older small children the newest addition to the family, swaddled in blankets, as the father looks on in the background with adoration. The other print, titled Les Petits Navigateurs, depicts two older siblings playing with their baby sibling as they pretend to set sail in the shallow water from a wooden crate, their dog calmly accompanying them, as their father lounges contentedly on shore, gazing with pure love as he silently chaperones. Each print includes artist signature printed in plate to the lower left. Publishing information is printed in fine text to the bottom edges. These prints are each mounted behind powder blue silk mats, under glass in wooden frame with mottled silver tone finishes. Labels to the verso contain basic information about the prints.
