A hand-colored etching of Rothenburg ob der Tauber by German artist Ernst Geissendorfer (1908-1993). Rothenburg is a town on the Romantic Road in Bavaria, Germany. The first picture is a place called Ploenlein, a former marketplace; on the left side the Siebers-gate; on the right the Kobolzeller-gate. This is one of the most photographed and painted places in Germany. Signed with the artist name to the lower left margin. A German artist, Geissendorfer studied art in Nuremberg and eventually took over his family’s art gallery in Rothenburg, Germany.
