Josef Signed Naïve Tempera Landscape on Composite Board
Item Details
A vintage original naïve tempera painting on composite board, circa 1940, signed in paint to the lower right by artist Josef. The image depicts a swamp landscape in the southern United States, with Spanish moss dripping from the spindly branches of bare trees lining the placid water’s edge. This work is mounted behind a yellow ochre velvet liner in a beveled wood frame with cast molding and a distressed gilt finish. A hanging wire is attached to the verso.
Condition
- accretion on painting, liner and frame. Finish of frame is worn and chipped throughout.
