A semi-antique hand-knotted Eastern Anatolian wool nomadic area rug. It features an indigo ground with three hooked medallions in cinnamon and beige tones filled with ‘s’ and triangular forms. It has various symbolic motifs in the field, including camels and livestock, the Hands of Fatima, amulets and eight-pointed stars. It has a wide guard border of cruciform shapes, with a primary border of ‘x’ form stars, framed by a running dog border. It is finished with barber pole bands and double overcast edges, with wool warp fringe to either end. Unmarked.
