An original acrylic on canvas by Ardy Struwer (b. 1939). Struwer is a Jakarta, Indonesia, born artist who has lived and worked in both Holland and Sweden. In addition to his artwork, Struwer is well-known in Sweden for his soccer prowess as a young man, as a television star, comedian and screen writer. He studied art at the KABK Royal Academy of Art at The Hague, Netherlands, and the Royal Academy of Art in Stockholm, Sweden. His work showcases a colorful expressiveness and he often uses women as an ‘origin of life’ motif in his work. His work is in many private collections and museums such as the Peter Stuyvesant Collection, Moderna Museet in Stockholm and the Gemeente Museum in The Hague. This work features a female flower seller surrounded by baskets of blooms. It is signed Ardy to the bottom right. It is presented matted under glass in a carved wood frame. The piece is float mounted to a bright blue and yellow mat, reminiscent of the colors of the Swedish flag.
