A vintage original naive oil townscape painting on canvas signed in paint to the lower right by artist J. Murphy. A quaint European town is irrigated by a blue stream snaking its way through the landscape. Tudor homes with thatched roofs are clustered closely together on the green lawns. In the foreground, a person stands on the outskirts of the town, accompanied by two white geese, smiling sinisterly as he or she gazes at the houses, scheming a rotten plan of sabotage. This work is mounted in a simple wood frame with a gilt finish.
Condition
- craquelure across painting. Tape residue to upper left, with major accretion across painting. Notable damage to canvas to upper left and upper right of center with paint loss. Finish of frame is worn.
