Very Fine 19th C. American Portrait Miniature in Hinged Leatherbound Frame
Item Details
A very fine American miniature portrait on wax, circa first quarter 19th century. The portrait depicts a half-length portrait of a fair-skinned brunette woman. The work is unsigned, but with an excellent level of quality and detail. The image is safely housed within a hinged leatherbound ‘Boston style’ frame with maroon velvet interior lining, set behind a marigold oval window.
Condition
- to fair. Marks, scuffs and wear most noticeable to edges of frame.
- Frame shows temporary repair with tape and does not securely close without force, backing loose.
