Eliza Fulton Racer Oil on Canvas Ohio Folk Art Winter Scene

Item Details

An original folk art oil painting on canvas by Ohio-born artist Eliza Fulton Racer (1835-1904), circa 1860. The work comes unframed, the canvas stretched around an oval-form pine board. Depicting colorfully dressed ice skaters on a frozen river with nearby brick school house. Unsigned and accompanied by a typed note from a descendant suggesting the setting to be the school where Fulton taught during young womanhood. Said descendant has titled the painting Skating at Recess.
