An oil painting on canvas of a chess match by Santersola. This painting depicts a gathering of men and women adorned in circa 18th-century aristocratic clothing participating in a chess match. Both opponents sit pensively at the ornate table while two women are seen to the background spectating the competition. An artist signature is found to the lower right corner of the composition. The painting is presented in a stained wooden frame featuring a linen inlay border and hanging wire to the verso.

- frame has scuffing and chips throughout; abrasion on lower left portion of canvas, which extends from the left to middle; matte stain on top central portion of canvas.
