An antique Lesghi star wool accent rug. This hand-knotted Caucasian tribal rug is rendered in a palette of madder red, ivory, sapphire, cerulean, and gold. It features three modified Lesghi star medallions, one in cerulean with gold, the others in sapphire and ivory with red, over a red field. The field is populated with eight-pointed stars encased in octagons, boteh, flowers enclosed in octagons, eyes and other tribal motifs. Framing the field are compound, unresolved borders that include medahil and a complex, diagonally oriented primary border with hooks and sawtooth edges. The rug has double overcast edges and finishes with unbound wool warp fringe. It is unmarked.

- a portion of this rug has been lost at one end; there are areas where the pile is worn away revealing warp and weft threads; areas that have been sewn together to repair holes; significant fading.
