Vintage World War I Era Lithograph Poster of "Pour le Supreme Effort"

Item Details

A circa 1918 lithograph on paper titled Pour le Supreme Effort by Marcel Falter (born 1866). This work depicts a French soldier fighting with the German Imperial black eagle. The words ‘Pour le supreme Effort’ are printed at the top left of the poster (torn away) and ‘Emprunt National Soceite General’ are printed at the lower margin. The piece is signed in plate to the lower left margin. It is presented behind glass in a wood frame with a wire to the verso ready to hang. In France, subscribers to war loans were given a copy of the poster.

- to poor; poster is torn and missing sections at the top, bottom and sides; frame shows wear; dust cover is punctured in upper right; gallery sticker adhered to verso.
