A gouache reverse painting on glass. The piece depicts an overcast maritime scene with a large English Merchant Navy schooner floating on a glassy waterway. Smaller boats can be seen in the distance, as the ship flies the British Red Ensign flag. The unsigned piece is presented in a black wooden frame with a decorative gold tone chinoiserie hanging bracket affixed to the top. The frame is marked ‘Made in the People’s Republic of China’ to the verso.

Condition

- frame has minor scratches throughout; frame is beginning to separate at corners; sticker on verso at top stating “Made in the People’s Republic of China”.
