An original stereoscopic photograph from 1897, featuring three lepers from Jerusalem. This harrowing photograph was designed to be viewed through a stereoscope, with the two matching photos mounted side-by-side on heavy cardstock. Text to the left and right margins identify the publisher as Underwood and Underwood, and text to the bottom margin reads "(84) 3118 -‘Unclean! Unclean!’ Wretched lepers outside Jerusalem, Palestine. (St. Matt. viii 2-4. Copyright 1897 by Underwood & Underwood". To the verso, the title of the photograph is written in six different languages.
