A set of two 19th-century silhouette lithograph portraits on paper after listed South Carolina artist and silhouettist William Henry Brown (1808 – 1883). Featured are portraits of President Andrew Jackson and Kentucky statesman and Senator Henry Clay. The works were printed circa 1844 by Hartford, Connecticut lithographers Edmund Burke Kellogg (1809-1872) and his borther Elijah Chapman Kellogg (1811-1881). Each piece depicts the subject standing as a silhouette figure in side profile. The pieces are presented under glass in beveled wooden frames with wires to the back for hanging. Condition
- foxing and discoloration to prints; items would benefit from cleaning; loose joints to frames and scratching to frame finish; holes to frame backing paper of each; frame backings include print info, but the tags are switched; frame backing tags are acid-burned.
