Hand-Knotted Asia Minor Wool Runner
Item Details
A hand-knotted runner from Asia Minor. This rectilinear wool rug, possibly from Armenia or Turkey, is rendered in a bright palette of cerulean, cherry red, ivory, and navy. It features seven linked diamond medallions over a stepped red lozenge, the lozenge resting on a navy and red striped field that is populated with rosettes. The field is framed by two running water guard strips and a complex primary border. The rug has overcast edges and finishes at the top end with unbound white warp fringe. It is unmarked.
