A vintage hand-knotted Heriz wool area rug. This area rug features an eight-pointed star with two large pendants to each end in shades of red, navy, orange, cream, taupe, blue and green. The indigo blue spandrels have leaf accents that form an inverted palmette, with guard borders having a two-petal calyx pattern in the field colors, framing a wide primary border of pinwheels and rectilinear leaves on an indigo ground. It has overcast edges and cotton warp fringe to each end, and is unmarked.
