1993 Loreene Henry Soapstone Sculpture of a Woman

A 1993 sculpture of an Iroquois woman’s head carved from soapstone by Six Nations artisan Loreene Henry. The sculpture depicts a smiling Iroquois woman with her head tilted and hair gathered around her neck with a pair of feathers on the side of her head. The bottom is marked ‘Loreene Henry, Six Nations, Ontario Canada.’

Loreene Henry is well known for her sculptures of men, women, and children. Many of her pieces involve many different themes of serenity and humanity in mothers and their children, the Three Sisters, and Clan Mothers.
